Hairstyle Trend 2011: The Top Knot

Diane von Fürstenberg
Chloé

Jil Sander

Hervé Leger

Have you noticed all the Top-Knots about? The cool, laid back and practical "hair out of your face" summer up-do for us girls with long hair, that coincides with the ballerina trend? The Dutt, as we call it here in Germany. Think less Fräulein Rottenmeier style, but midi flowing pleated skirts like at Chloé, and to finish it off and to make it less bulky on top - the Top Knot! It's the practical saviour on bad hair days! Make a high pony tail, swirl it around in a few minutes, off you go, and you will look amazing. Keep it modern in a slightly undone messy kind of way, with some strands hanging out, either from your tied knot or from the side. It's versatile, too. You can make it sit higher up on your head or lower down, it's up to you. Needless to say I love it!  Do you?

Pack your towels and beach stuff in style with these lovely beach bags. Even if you are not near the beach, you can dream yourself onto the Riviera with the Ailleurs collection from Louis Vuitton, which is French for "Somewhere Else", or the Kate Spade "Whish You Were Here" or Anya Hindmarch's  "Beach Party". As it's 36°C here today, I think this is just what I'll do! xxx

The Perfect Trouser Suit

Stella McCartney Spring RTW 2011

If you need to buy one suit this season, make it a Stella McCartney! Its clean modern tailored cut with high waisted, cropped, cuffed and slightly flared, front pleated trousers and a matching boyfriend bazer in soft pastels makes it a standout piece. You will get so much wearability out of it, as it will last you beyond this season, making it an investment buy. Too good for the boardroom only!

Hello From Holland

Hello from Holland! I am spending a few days on an island off the Dutch coast. In an almost fashion free zone, there is loads of nature, wooden clogs, cheese and Genever to name some typical Dutch stuff. Everything really is sort of cute and quaint here. They even decorate the handlebars of their holland bikes with flowers! How cute is that?

Some Vintage Print Inspiration

This is one of my vintage summer dresses, and don't you just love the colourful floral print and the delicate matching belt that goes with it? Usually I am not such a flowery type but this dress had my name written all over it at the time. And I had to buy it, although it was quite in a state. I got it for 10 pounds years ago somewhere at Camden Market, and I had to sew the whole backside together, matching print on print, which nearly made me go nuts, but it was worth it!

Oh yes, and lately I'm obsessed with digital polaroid imaging, be it with a polaroid app for the iphone or with my leica and polaroid picture converters, I just love this vintage look on digital photography.
